Invasive Weed Management

Many people devote a lot of energy to managing weeds. But how do you know if a plant is a weed or not? Most simply, a weed is any plant in the wrong place, or any plant that disrupts your management goals. An invasive weed is one that is non-native and able to establish on many sites, grow quickly, and spread to the point of disrupting plant communities or ecosystems. A noxious weed is a plant that can directly or indirectly cause damage to crops, livestock, irrigation, navigation, public health, or the environment (USDA-APHIS).
