Invasive Weed Management

Most people devote a lot of energy to managing weeds, but how do you know if a plant is a weed or not? Most simply, a weed is any plant in the wrong place, or any plant that doesn’t meet the management goals of the place where it is growing.

An invasive weed is one that is non-native and able to establish on many sites, grow quickly, and spread to the point of disrupting plant communities or ecosystems, and a noxious weed is a plant that can directly or indirectly cause damage to crops, livestock, irrigation, navigation, public health, or the environment (USDA-APHIS).
